Luria, Isaac ben Solomon
(1534, Jerusalén–5 ago. 1572, Safed, Siria).

Místico judío y fundador de una escuela de Cábala. Se crió en Egipto, donde siguió estudios rabínicos. Se dedicó al estudio de la Cábala con fervor mesiánico y en 1570 viajó a un centro del movimiento en Galilea. Murió dos años más tarde en una epidemia, habiendo escrito poco. La Cábala luriánica, una colección de sus doctrinas registradas después de su muerte por un discípulo, ejerció gran influencia sobre el posterior misticismo judío y el hasidismo. Propone una teoría de la creación y posterior degeneración del mundo e insta a la restauración de la armonía original a través de la meditación ritual y las combinaciones secretas de palabras.
